Non-govt school teachers, staff call strike on July 30, 31

The National Front of Teachers and Employees, an organisation of teachers and employees of non-government educational institutions, will observe a one-hour strike on July 30 and a two-hour strike on July 31 to press home their eight-point demand, says a press release.

The 10 per cent dearness allowance declared in the current year's budget is no substitute for the promised 10 per cent increase in salary, said the release.

Front leaders also demanded an additional 20 per cent dearness allowance along with the 10 per cent increase in salary.

The leaders also said non-government school teachers and employees get a much lower salary than their government counterparts in spite of equivalent educational qualifications and responsibilities.
