MSC drawn with Muktijoddha, Arambagh

After an easy sail in the second round, holders Mohammedan Sporting Club have been drawn in a tough group alongside Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra and Arambagh Krira Sangha for the Super Six phase of the Nitol-Tata National Football League.

The draw, which put them in the tricky Group B, was held during a meeting of the league committee at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday evening.

The popular Motijheel-based outfit had teams like Jhenidah Mohammedan, Jagarani Club of Jamalpur and Arambagh Krira Sangha in their group in the second round along with Moulvibazar Wanderers Club.

They comfortably beat their Jhenidah counterparts, Jamalpur Jagarani and Arambagh and drew with Moulvibazar Wanderers.

On the other hand, last year's runners up Abahani Krira Chakra, who encountered Muktijoddha, Bangladesh Army, Chittagong Mohammedan and Sirajganj Mohammedan in the second round, found themselves in a relatively easy group in the Super Six.

Highly-impressive Moulvibazar Wanderers and Mohammedan of Chittagong are the other two teams drawn in Group A along with Abahani.

The league committee, however, was unable to fix a date and a venue for the final part of the competition as it was yet to know whether they would get Bangabandhu National Stadium for the 10-match Super Six phase or not.
