Uttara Club aims at promoting cultural activities
Uttara Lekhak Shipli Club held a rainy-season based poetry recitation and musical session at the Uttara High School recently, says a press release.

The three-hour long "Barsha Kaleen Kobita Utasab" marking reflection of rains in the life of Bengali people kept hundreds of cultural-minded people spellbound.

Renowned poets Prof. Alauddin Al Azad, Prof.Md. Moniruzzaman, Khaleda Ediv Chowdhury, Hayat Saif and Faruque Alamgir presented self-composed poems. Noted litterateur and ex-Director General of Bangla Academy Prof. Rafiqul Islam narrated the history of rains reflected in Bengali poetry and music.. Eminent poet Dr. Alauddin Al Azad traced history of rains in the Bengali literature. Club's General Secretary MA Awwal welcomed the guests.

The club's affiliated bodies which performed include Anjali Nrityakala Niketan, Ajnabi Academy, Doel-Koel Lolitkala Mahabidyalaya, Uttara Guitar School, Uchchhash Lolitkalal Academy and Satya Saha Songit Bidyalay 'Geetayan'.
