Jamaluddin Hossain turns 60
Nagorik Natyangan Ensemble celebrates the actor’s birthday

An eminent drama activist and the founding general secretary of the theatre group Nagarik Natyangan Ensemble, Jamaluddin Hossain stepped into 60. The group arranged a programme celebrating his birthday at the Natmandal of Dhaka University. The programme started with a group dance with the song Ohey Shundar Mori Mori. After the performance Jamaluddin Hossain held the hands of eminent personality Kalim Sharafi and came on stage. Jamaluddin was then greeted with flowers by his well wishers. His wife, eminent actress Rowshan Ara Hossain gave him the first bouquet of the evening.

The discussants recalled the past and beautiful moments of their acting career and turned the programme into a joyous and entertaining one. In his reaction Jamaluddin Hossain said, 'I usually avoid these type of programmes since it is better to keep your age a secret. That way you can stay young to your admirers.' To this the crowd burst into laughter. Celebrated actor Abul Hayat then came on stage and remarked, 'I have been jealous of Jamaluddin from the very beginning. He is a good actor, a good student and looks handsome too. I always felt jealous about these things but today I am happy because he has turned 60 before me.'

Kalim Sharafi presented Jamaluddin a crest and an Uttario. Among others Masud Ali Khan, Momtaz Hossain, Afroza Banu, Tapan Mahmud, Hashem Khan, Toukir Ahmed, SM Mohsin, Golum Kuddus, Mannan Hira, Rokeya Rafique Baby also spoke on the occasion after which a big cake was cut to entertain the guests.
