Journalist's house torched in Noakhali

Criminals set on fire the house of a journalist, also a writer causing loss amounting to Tk 8 lakh on Wednesday.

The victim, Rafiq Khan alleged that the incident happened under patronisation of the administration.

However, family members were not present in the house as they fled elsewhere following life threat given by criminals.

Rafiq's relatives alleged that criminals gutted the house in a bid to kill the guard of the house.

Locals alleged that after the last parliamentary election, influencial groups loyal to the ruling BNP tried to capture Rafiq's wealth.

However, police did not arrest anyone 'involved with the incident.'
