Dainik Bangla, Times will be republished, says Tariqul

Information Minister Tariqul Islam said the government has taken steps to bring out the dailies Dainik Bangla and Bangladesh Times, closed down by the past Awami League government, under private management.The minister said this while speaking at the annual general meeting and award-giving ceremony of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) at the Jatiya Press Club as chief guest yesterday. Sixteen journalists have been awarded for their contribution to development of journalism. They are late Ahmed Humayun, late Sanaullah Nuri, late Hasina Ashraf, late Moazzem Hossain Bulu, late Mozammel Hossain, ABM Musa, Sadeque Khan, Anwar Jahid, Hasanuzzaman Khan, Prof Abdul Gafur, Amanullah, Mohammad Mashir Hossain, Mohammad Mahfuz Ullah, Fouzul Karim, Mostafa Kamal and Syed Abdul Kahhar The minister said all honest and fearless newspersons must combat propaganda against journalism, which is rife, to uphold the dignity of the profession. He said those who had stifled the voice of the people by shutting down all newspapers except four, later closed the Dainik Bangla and the Bangladesh Times.
