One killed in road accident

A passenger was killed when a bus turned turtle at Ramna in the city yesterday.

The accident occurred when the driver of Mirpur-bound bus from Sayedabad lost his control over the steering and drove it onto the pavement hitting an electric pole and felling a tree before it turned upside down near the Engineers' Institution at 9:45am.

While rescuing the passengers, the passers-by found a youth Saiful, 19, and a garment worker Abdur Razzak in a critically injured condition.

A rickshawpuller rushed them to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where the doctors declared Saiful dead.

Driver Anwar managed to flee the scene.
