223 more medical teams formed |
The health directorate yesterday said it had formed 223 additional medical teams for the treatment of sick people in flood affected areas.
These include 173 teams formed in coordination with the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) which were deployed in the city yesterday to help treat the sick people.
The directorate said until now a total of 4,137 medical teams have been deployed for the treatment of the people suffering from various water-borne diseases.
Of them, 3,453 teams are working in the worst affected regions.
The health directorate also said a total of 1,41,864 people had suffered from diarrhoea since the onset of flood in July. Out of them, 88 people, mostly children, have died.
The directorate said it distributed a total of 5,22,000 water purification tablets, 81,900 oral saline packets and 6,800 intravenous saline in 14 districts.
