Int'l confce on aquaculture begins in city today

A two-day international conference on Aquaculture production and marketing of shrimp and fin-fish will begin in Dhaka today.

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia is expected to inaugurate the conference at Sonargaon Hotel.

The conference will be jointly organised by Info-fish, an inter-governmental organisation of the Asia Pacific region for development of fisheries resources, Bangladesh Frozen Food Exporters Association (BFFEA) and Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.

Experts and representatives from around 40 countries, including USA, UK, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and India will participate in the conference.

The event includes an international fair dubbed as "Bangladesh sea-food Expo-2004."

A review meeting on the arrangement of the conference was held in the Fisheries and Livestock Ministry yesterday with Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdullah Al Noman in the chair.
