BNP to protest hartal Mar 30

BNP Secretary General Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan yesterday said his party will hold simultaneous rallies in six divisional headquarters on March 30 to protest hartal, anarchism and destructive designs of the Awami League.

Bhuiyan in a statement said although the people have taken sides against hartal, the main opposition AL is frequently enforcing 'issue-less' general strikes, causing them utmost sufferings.

"The AL is out to destabilise the country's overall atmosphere," he said, adding that the party is also running a propaganda campaign against the country abroad.

Bhuiyan, also LGRD and cooperatives minister, said people do not accept hartal any more and only want constructive politics with stability, progress and prosperity.

"On failure to gain peoples' support through hartal and other destructive designs, the opposition is now making ill attempts to create issues out of non-issues," he added.

The minister called upon the opposition leaders to shun the path of hartal, anarchism and other destructive activities and return to parliament to express their opinions.

Highlighting various achievements of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, Bhuiyan said law and order has improved significantly because of the pragmatic and dynamic steps undertaken in this regard.

"Poverty is decreasing day by day with rise in literacy rate," he said, adding, Bangladesh is also getting massive foreign investments in different sectors.

He regretted that certain vested quarters are hatching conspiracy to hinder the pace of development in the country.

"The BNP with the help of people will politically resist the conspiracy to uphold the country's interests," he said.

He also congratulated the BNP leaders and workers for making yesterday's countrywide protest programmes successful.
