3 killed in road crash


Three people including a Union Parishad (UP) member and a school teacher were killed when a passenger bus collided head-on with a truck on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway yesterday morning.

The accident that took place at Gargoria Bazar under Sripur upazila in Gazipur, left 20 other passengers injured, some of them critically.

The accident occurred when the Dhaka bound passenger bus, in an attempt to save a cow, collided with a brick laden truck, police and witnesses said.

Abdus Salam, 38, a teacher of the Kashor High School and Quddus, 45, a member of the Kachina UP, succumbed to their injuries while being carried to hospital. The other dead could not be identified.

Critically injured Sirajul Islam, 45, Suruj, 40, Saiful, 46, Idris, 34, Monir, 25, Saleha, 32 and 15 others were admitted to different local hospitals and clinics.
