Publication Ceremony
Call to build up science-based culture

Speakers at a publication ceremony yesterday called for simple presentation of scientific facts to help build up a science-based culture for rapid development of the country.

They said science makes life comfortable and dynamic, but general people find it less interesting because of its complexities.

The publication ceremony of the two science books titled 'Bigganer Darshan' authored by Shahidul Islam and 'Alo Hate Chaliachhe Adharer Jatree' by Abhijit Roy was held at the commerce faculty auditorium of Dhaka University.

The speakers said the two books will act as guidelines for presenting the complex phenomena of science in simple form.

Importance of reading science and its contribution to modern life have been described in easy languages in these books, they added.

Shahidul Islam has focused the history and philosophy of science in his book, while Abhijit Roy laid emphasis on the creation of universe and creatures," said National Professor Kabir Chowdhury.

Presided over by Prof Ajoy Roy, the function was also addressed by Prof Anisuzzaman, Mizanur Rahman, Bashir-Al-Helal, Syed Abul Kalam, Mesbah Uddin Ahmed and AN Rashida.

Shikkha Andolon Mancha and Muktamana Cyber Net Forum jointly organised the function .
