Low over Bay intensifies

The monsoon low persisting over the northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal and Orissa coast has intensified into a well-marked low that may increase rainfall and gusty winds in different places of the country.

The well-marked low lies over the North Bay and squally weather is likely to affect the ports, a special bulletin of the weather office said.

The bulletin advised maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla to hoist local cautionary signal number three.

The met office has forecast light to medium or heavy rainfall in most areas of Barisal and Khulna divisions in next 24 hours and medium to light rainfall in places of other districts.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain close to coast and proceed with caution.
