30 hurt as AL, BNP clash in Rajshahi |

At least 30 people, including a police constable, were injured during a clash between the Awami League (AL) and BNP activists at Baneshwar Bazar under Puthia upazila of the district last night.
Of the injured, six, identified as Enamul, 30, Selim, 25, Shariqul, 45, Ayub, 25, Taslim, 20, Sayeed, 25, were admitted to Puthia Health Complex, while police constable Faruk was admitted to Police Academy Hospital.
Witnesses said a group of BNP men led by Saiful beat up Chhatra League activist Taleb when he went to Baneshwar Bazar in the evening.
Local units of the AL and BCL took out a procession protesting the incident at around 9:00pm.
AL Baneshwar Union President Abdus Satter said the clash ensued when the ruling BNP men with the help of police tried to intercept the procession.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Puthia Police Station told The Daily Star that the AL and BNP activists clashed over inauguration of a tree fair at Baneshwar Bazar. Police fired only two rounds of blank shots to disperse the clashing groups, he added.
