Chayanika Chowdhury
A new directorial venture

Chayanika Chowdhury has a new offering -- a one-hour play titled Shonar Kathi Rupar Kathi. Scripted by Bipasha Hayat, the story of the play revolves around the endangered life of a young woman. The protagonist, played by Tarin, leaves home because she doesn't want to marry the man chosen by her parents. The plot follows her struggles through the walk of life. The other lead character is played by Mahfuz Ahmed who protects her like a guardian angel.

Ekushey Betar, a radio station operated by the expatriate Bangalees in Sydney, aired a live interview of Chayanika Chowdhury recently. Interviewed by Faruq Iqbal, Chayanika talked about her TV play Kashto Kashto Shukh, which won the Best Critic Award in the direction category in 2004 from Cultural Journalist Forum of Bangladesh. An elated Chayanika added, after the interview most of the VCDs of Kashto Kashto Shukh were sold out in Sydney.
