Three killed in road accidents


At least three people were killed in separate road accidents in Bogra and Savar.

Two people, including a teacher, were killed in separate road accidents at Dupchachia Upazila and Subgram in the outskirt of the Bogra district yesterday.

The agitated people put up a barricade on the Bogra-Sariakandi road for four hours until 12:00 noon in protest against the killing.

The victims are Abdullahel Kafi, 24, a teacher and son of Abdul Mannan of Kornipara village under Gabtoli upazila and Rubel,14, son of Abdus Samad of Belahali village under Dupchachia upazila.

Witnesses said Kafi was going to his Retina Coaching Centre on a bicycle. A Sariakandi-bound bus hit him at Subgram area leaving him dead on the spot.

A truck on the Bogra-Naogaon road hit the van of Rubel in which he was carrying rice for his father to Tishigari area at around 9:00am. He died on the spot.

Meanwhile, a man was killed in a road accident yesterday morning on Nabinagar-Kaliakoir road near Rural Electrification Board (REB) bus stand in Savar.

The deceased was identified as Ripon Mondol,22, a salesman of Habib Food Products at Palashbari stand.

Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at about 11.00am when Ripon was crossing the road. A speedy mini-bus crushed Ripon leaving him dead on the spot.

Police sent the body to Ashulia thana.
