Munna named as National Sports Award winner |
Former Bangladesh football captain Monem Munna has been named as a winner of the National Sports Awards for 2005.
The government on Thursday announced the 2005 National Sports Awards that included the country's football icon Munna, who died on February 12 this year.
Munna, who ruled the pitch like a king in the 80s and 90s, breathed his last just at the age of 39.
The other recipients are Golam Ambia and Nazrul Islam Rumi (athletics), major (retd) Shahab-uddin Chakladar (hockey), Setara Begum (swimming), Biddyut Kumar Roy (weightlifting), Mahbub-ul Alam (judo), Ziaur Rahman (kabaddi), Siddiqur Rahman (golf), SA Sultan and Shah Nurul Kabir (organisers).
