Three more JMB men arrested


Three Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh [JMB] members, including an Ehsar member, were arrested in Dinajpur and Gaibandha yesterday.

Our correspondent from Gaibandha reports: Police yesterday arrested one JMB 'Ehsar' member from village Cheragidaha under Shaghata upazila.

Police said Lutfur Rahman, a schoolteacher and son of Faizer Rahman of village Barokona under Shaghata upazila. Lutfur is the elder brother of most wanted Bogra JMB commander Mamunur Rashid Mamun.

Police will produce him before the court today seeking remand for interrogation.

After the arrest of outlawed Islamist outfit JMB kingpins, commanders and Ehsar members are gathering occasionally with view to regrouping Shaghata, police said.

Simulbari Qawmi Madrasa of village Barokona here was a den of JMB when Ahle Hadits Andolon Bangladesh (Ahab) chief Asadullah-Al-Galib and Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh (JMJB) chief Siddiqul Islam Bangla Bhai frequenly visited the areas for recruitment, local people said.

Police said the JMB activists are regrouping in remote shoal areas along the Brahmaputra basin at Shaghata upazila.

Our Correspondent from Dinajpur adds: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) and police arrested two people suspecting them to be JMB members at the Dinajpur court area in Dinajpur yesterday.

The arrestees are Haidar Ali 28, son of Abdul Hasnat of village Ghugumari under Rowmari upazila of Kurigram and Jamal Munshi, 26, son of late Nazrul Islam of village Masua-Khali under Shariatpur.

Acting on tip-off, Rab arrested Haider and Jamal on Dinajpur court premises. Police said they were moving suspiciously at the court area in the morning.

Police said they are quzzing the arrestees.
