Fake notes, phensidyl seized


Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) seized 38 counterfeit notes and a huge quantity of phensidyl from Satkhira and Jhenidah on Thursday.

Rab sources said a special team seized 38 fake notes of Tk 500 denomination, 1119 counterfeit stamps worth Tk 6350 and an Indian-made pistol from one Hazrat Ali, 30, son of Abu Bakkar Ali of Kakshialy village under Kaliganj upazila in Satkhira district.

Another team from Jhenidah camp raided Shibnagar village under Kaliganj thana yesterday and arrested two people with 200 bottles of phensidyl.

The arrested are Lalbanu, 45, wife of Sekender Molla of Shibnagar Pashchimpara and Rezaul, 27, son of Sattar Shaikh of Shibnagar Gulshanpara under Kaliganj thana.

The arrested persons were handed over to police stations concerned yesterday.

Meanwhile, Rab members in separate drives arrested three people including two alleged drug-traders, from Rajshahi and Kurigram districts in last three days.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Doulatpur village under Charghat upazila here at 7.30am yesterday and picked up an alleged drug-trader Sufi Aslam Khan, 40, son of late Yeakub Khan of Laghu Colony under Ishwardi upazila, along with 130 bottles of phensidyl.

Another drug-trader Tipu Sultan, 35, son of Nawsher Ali Mollah of Talaimari area under Motihar Police Station, was arrested along with 300 grams of ganja from Kazla area under the same thana on Thursday night.

Another Rab team rounded up Lemon, 25, son of Mohammad Ali, from Kurigram town.

He was wanted for a long time in connection with various criminal cases, police said.

Separate cases were filed with police stations concerned in these connections and the arrested people along with the seized goods were handed over to police.
