Tk 3.75cr foreign currency seized at ZIA

Customs officials seized foreign currencies worth Tk 3.75 crore from a Singapore-bound passenger at Zia International Airport (ZIA) on Friday night.

Finding suspicious the movement of Mohammad Kabir at the ZIA, customs officials searched six packages of dried fish possessed by him at around 11:00pm and found the currencies.

The seized currencies include Saudi riyal, Singapore dollar, Euro, US dollar, UAE dirham, British pound and Brunei dollar.

Customs officials filed a case with the Airport Police Station and handed him over to the police.

Kabir however told the police that he does not own the money. One person gave him the packets saying that he will soon be back.

Hailing from Munshiganj, Kabir was going to Singapore on a tourist visa.
