Three killed in road accidents


At least three people were killed in separate road accidents in Sirajganj and Comilla yesterday.

Our correspondent from Sirajganj adds: At least two people were killed in two separate road accidents in Sirajganj yesterday.

Police and witnesses said an unidentified woman, aged about 40, died on the spot when a speeding bus crushed her under its wheels on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway at Mohisluti area in Tarash upazila. The accident occurred at 9.00am when she was crossing the road.

On the other hand, an old man, 65, died at 7.00 am, when a Bogra-bound bus from Dhaka hit him from behind on the Dhaka-Bogra highway at Horgati area. Identity of the victim could not be known immediately.

Police sent the bodies to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.

Our correspondent from Comilla reports: An old man was killed in a road accident at Jamtola area on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sadar Dakshin upazila yesterday.

The dead was identified as Anu Mia, 75, of Donaitori village under Chouddagram upazila.

The accident occurred at about 7:00am when a Chittagong-bound microbus from Dhaka hit Anu Mia while he was crossing the road, leaving him seriously injured.

He was rushed to Chouddagram Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
