Ensure speedy delivery of commodities at Chittagong Port
Agri adviser asks officials


Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Dr CS Karim ordered officials to ensure speedy delivery of imported essential commodities from Chittagong Port to avert any crisis or consequent price hike.

He also warned the concerned government officials against making delay in giving clearance exploiting loopholes of related rules and legal barriers.

The adviser was addressing as chief guest at a view exchange meeting with the senior officials of different departments concerned at Chittagong Circuit House conference room with Deputy Commissioner Al Nuri Foyzur Reza in the chair.

Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) leaders and officials from different departments, including those of Agriculture, Fisheries, Livestock, Environment and Forestry participated at the meeting in presence of representatives from joint forces.

The adviser said concerned officials at regional level should issue special release order to avoid delay in unloading commodity items to avert unexpected price hike or undesired crisis in the market.

Dr Karim said the government was going to take strict measures against netting of mother fish at the river Halda during the spawning or breeding period (March to May).

He informed the meeting that production of fish fry at the river decreased at an alarming rate due to the harmful activities and lack of awareness among the local people.

In this regard, the adviser urged the leaders of CCCI to come forward to rehabilitate the fishermen when they do not have any work during the spawning and breeding period of fishes at the Halda.
