ACC taskforce probes Omar's assets in Barisal


A taskforce of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday started investigation into assets and land property of former state minister and BNP leader Barrister Shahjahan Omar Bir Uttam. Omar was elected from Jhalakati-2 constituency in the last election.

The team after arriving Barisal yesterday morning visited Omar's house in the city at noon.

The palatial three-storied house named Bir Utam Bhavan was built at the cost of over than two core during the rule four-party alliance government, sources claimed.

The ACC ask force during their two-hour probe measured the house, construction materials used, fittings and furniture.

Later the team also visited the lands owned by Shahjahan Omar in Rupatali area of the city. There is a plan to build a hospital in the name of Bir Uttam Hospital in one of the lands, sources said.

The team also inquired about bank accounts of Shahjahan Omar and left Barisal for Jhalakathi in the afternoon.
