15 Shibir men held with bombs

Police arrested 15 activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir from two messes in Rajshahi city and seized homemade bombs, explosives, and Jihadi books from them early on Friday.
The arrested Shibir activists are students of the city’s different educational institutions, said Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Boalia Police Station.
The seized items include two homemade bombs, 500 grams gunpowder, 100 grams potassium, 100 marbles, four sharp weapons, 40 Jihadi books, and 100 posters, he said.
Acting on a tip-off, police raided the two messes in the city’s Debisinghapara around 4:00am, seized the explosives and detained the activists, Hafizur said.
The Shibir men were involved in recent attacks on police and planning to commit subversive acts in the city after the death sentence of Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Kamaruzzaman on Thursday for committing crimes against humanity during the 1971 independence war, the police officer added.
