Asif Mohiuddin

A Dhaka court on Monday again placed blogger Asif Mohiuddin on a one-day remand in a case filed for hurting religious sentiment of the people using social media.

Metropolitan Magistrate Tarek Mainul Islam Bhuiyan passed the order after Mainul Islam, inspector of Detective Branch (DB) of police, produced Asif before him with a 7-day remand.

During the day’s proceedings, advocate Alauddin, counsel for Asif, filed a bail petition for his clients. But the court did not entertain his prayer.

Earlier on April 4, another Dhaka court placed Asif on a three-day remand in connection with the same case.

Detectives on April 3 arrested Mohiuddin, who had been attacked by Islamist fanatics in January, following his alleged postings on the Internet “defaming Islam and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)”.

Well he did defame Islam ; and why on earth a adult person would do such … he is no kid and I think he belongs to a Muslim so he knows about Islam very much .

As far as I know, the accusations against Asif are still not clear (therefor he’s remanded again) and you’re innocent until proven otherwise. So we should be very careful with our reactions and accusations. I would like to know what Asif did do wrong and why exactly he’s arrested.

Its not the first time. I think he suffered most as compare to other bloggers. he got arrested earlier for being vocal about Jogonnath University issue and almost got killed by Islamic fundamentalist.People who are vocal and intelligent, are always a big threat to the government and the Islamists

Between January and April, he had 2 months time to slip to India, where he would have received hero’s warm welcome and would have continued his task without hinderance like Taslima Nasreen. Sangh Parivar always welcome and financially support such people. On merger of Bangla Desh with India these people will be installed at high positions.
