BNP high-ups meet Thursday evening

BNP standing committee, the highest policymaking body of the party, will sit Thursday evening to decide its next course of action centring restoration of the caretaker government system.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia will preside over the meeting scheduled to begin at 8:30pm at her Gulshan office.

The latest political situation will also come up in the discussion, said party sources.

The committee will hold the meeting after the opposition declared two-day hartal ends at 6:00pm Thursday.

The BNP-led 18-party alliance enforced the hartal after the 48-hour ultimatum given by Khaleda to the government ended on May 5.

Khaleda on May 4 from a meeting of the 18-party alliance at the capital’s Motijheel gave the ultimatum to realise their demand of a caretaker government system.

It’s sadly obvious what they’ll try to do. Since Hefazat has withdrawn its shutdown, they’ll call for one on that day. That’s all they can do, setting aside the well being of the people. its true that the Government has failed miserably to run the nation and should have never abolished the caretaker government, but is what the BNP doing any better?
