British Council celebrates World Book Day

“Be the owner of a book, read a book” was the slogan for British Council and Daffodil Education Network’s joint celebration of World Book Day on 9 March. Reading a book was announced as the agenda for this month by Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed. Also present in this ceremony was Mohammad Sabur Khan, President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries, and Sarwat Masud Reza, British Council Resource Centre Manager.
A month-long book reading competition was announced, where participants have to answer questions on a book they will be assigned to read. Children from Class 6 and above and any adult can take part in the competition. The competition will be open to all ages in 4 different levels.
Interested participants can register by 9 April with the registration free at the British Council branches in Dhaka, Chittagong or Sylhet, where they can collect the book. Winners of each level will get a netbook and other attractive prizes.
