Dhk-Sylhet-Ctg rail link snapped

The rail communications between Dhaka-Sylhet and Dhaka-Chittagong routes have came to a halt since Wednesday morning as a goods-laden compartment of a train derailed at Sadar upazila in Comilla.

The last compartment of the Chittagong-bound Jalalabad Express derailed around 11:45am when four wheels of the train came off the tracks in Daulatpur area, Ainul Huq, officer-in-charge (OC) of Comilla Sadar (south) Police Station told a Daudkandi correspondent.

Efforts have going on to remove the displaced compartment which was that last and loaded with goods of the passenger train, the OC said.

The rail links remained snapped till filing of this report around 2:30pm.
