Fakhrul gets bail for 6 months in 5 cases

Rizvi's bail petition rejected

The High Court yesterday granted bail for six months to BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in five separate cases.
The court granted the bail after hearing five bail petitions filed by Fakhrul.
Fakhrul’s lawyer Mahbub Uddin Khokon said there was no legal bar to release the BNP leader from jail following the HC order.
On March 2, police filed the cases with Ramna, Paltan and Shahjahanpur police stations against Fakhrul, and several others on charges of vandalising vehicles, attacking police and blasting cocktails during an agitation programme.
Meanwhile, the same court yesterday rejected a bail petition filed by detained BNP leader Rizvi Ahmed in connection with a bomb blast case.
Police filed the case with Paltan Police Station hours after police raided BNP’s central office following explosions in an opposition rally at Naya Paltan in the capital on March 11.
Mahbub Uddin, also a lawyer for Rizvi, said they would move the Supreme Court against the HC order.
