Govt halts BNP leaflet printing: Dudu

6 arrested, leaflets seized, he claims

The government Wednesday night stopped the printing of leaflets BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia planned to circulate among people, a party spokesman said.

Six persons were arrested for printing the leaflets at a press in Paltan area of the capital, Shamsuzzaman Dudu, an adviser to opposition leader Khaleda Zia, told The Daily Star on Thursday.

The law enforcers also seized the leaflets, Dudu said.

    Distributing leaflets,pamphlets, booklets, etc are part of a routine function of any political party. Did these material contain anything seditious, libelous or treasonable? The government ought to come out with a statement.

    What did the leaflets say? Was there any seditious comments or comments instigating any unlawful acts? If not, then the articles of the constitution that allows freedom of speech is being violated by the govt. The govt needs to explain why?
