The garments factory tragedies of Bangladesh have become regular. Ever since the year 2000, around 11 incidents have taken place. In the recent incident of the collapse of Rana Plaza in Savar, more than 500 people have died which has broken all the records of the past. This incident could have been avoided if the garments were closed after knowing that the building had many cracks but the owners forced the workers to keep working. All these incidents could have been avoided if there had been enough safety and security for the workers. If we do not ensure the safety and security for the workers, then our ready-made garments industries will be destroyed and similar incidents will repeatedly take place in the future.
