Home Minister Muhiuddin Khan Alamgir on Sunday blamed activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir for attacking law enforcers and violence in the capital during Hefajat-e Islam’s Dhaka blockade programme.
“Jamaat-Shibir men are involved with the violence at different parts in the city including Baitul Mukarram mosque premises, Paltan and Topkhana Road,” the minister said, quoting Hefajat leaders.
The minister said some Hefajat leaders informed him about the involvement of Jamaat-Shibit men with the violence.
Muhiuddin was talking to reporters at his office at Secretariat.
The minister said Hefajat got permission for holding its rally at Shapla Chattar in the capital’s Motijheel area as its leaders had pledged to hold the programme peacefully.
“But the law enforcers will take immediate action if there is any violence by them (Hefajat men),” the minister added.
