Jamaat, Shibir snatch away firearm from police

Jamaat-Shibir activists attacked a police team, leaving six policemen injured, and snatched away a firearm while the law enforcers were raiding Morshidpur village in Bagha upazila in Rajshahi Sunday night.

The attackers snatched away Bagha poura ameer Nuhu Sarker, who was arrested by the police, and a revolver from Sub-Inspector Nuruzzaman of Bagha Police Station, said Alamgir Kabir, Superintendent of Police in Rajshahi.

“We are now busy recovering the police arms,” said the SP.

The incident occurred at 7:30pm when the police team led by SI Nuruzzaman went to the village for arresting Nuhu, said police officials.

    Police must be trained better! Police firearm being snatched by the culprits mean, our police is not yet fit to carry firearms! Give them bamboo staff instead!
