Joy confident of AL’s win in next polls

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed Joy yesterday said he hoped the Awami League would return to power.
He said he had this information from the party’s polling, which is done by him.
Joy, who lives in the US, said he came to Bangladesh to counter the smear campaign of the opposition alliance and its sympathisers.
He was speaking at an Iftar party organised by the ruling AL’s youth wing, the Jubo League, in the capital’s Bangabandhu Avenue.
It was his first political speech since his arrival along with his wife and daughter on July 16.
Joy alleged that the former prime minister’s (Khaleda Zia) son (Tarique Rahman) wanted to kill Sheikh Hasina.
“He [Tarique] was also involved in the August 21 grenade attack,” he said, adding that the AL would start a six-month campaign to remind people of the “corruption and misrule” of the BNP.
Joy claimed that the AL had carried out huge development activities in the country.
The BNP did not set up any power plant in the country, he said, adding that the AL solved the electricity problem.
He urged people to compare the two terms of the AL and the BNP to find out which party offered maximum development.
The BNP in its two terms failed to touch the level of development that the AL has done in one term, he claimed.
During the BNP government tenure, no one was arrested for corruption and no one could speak against corruption. Bangladesh became the most corrupt country in the world, he said.
He added Hawa Bhaban used to extort businessmen and that people could still remember the Khamba (pillar) story.
According to him, Dhaka now looks like an international city thanks to the completion of the Hatirjheel Project.
The AL focused on the economic development, and the country would achieve the vision-2021 if the development continued at the same speed, he claimed.
He also blamed the BNP-led alliance for the attack on minority people in 2001.

This is Nasim-Suranjit-Hanif-Quamrul-others style AL traditional speech – nothing new. Why he does not deliver UK style speeches where there will be no mockery-style speeches. If he has concrete statistics that AL government attained double development than BNP’s twice, he has to come forward with concrete evidence not in AL style. EC undertook master plan to bring AL in power again, reports say while other government institutions also work together to serve AL purpose. These speeches will ONLY satisfy the sycophants, not voters. His confident perception to be reelected seem impractical based on the activities of AL leaders who are constantly voicing against reintroduction of CG.

So the ‘Crown Prince’ speaks! He should see his reflection in the mirror before sermonizing the people of Bangladesh!

Confidence is good but overconfidence is found most of the time to prove deceptive. So he should do better to exercise some degree of caution in making such prognosis.
