Pahela Baishakh preparations in Port City

To welcome Bangla New Year and bid farewell to the outgoing year, two-day long programmes will be held at DC Hill (Nazrul Square) premises, Central Railway Building (CRB) square, Fulki, local Shilpakala Academy, Chittagong Press club, Bangladesh Women’s Association (BAWA) School and College premises in the Port City.

DC Hill: Sammilito Pahela Baishakh Udjapon Parishad (SPBUP) will arrange a two-day cultural programme to welcome the Bangla New Year.

Chaitra Sankranti (last day of this Bangla year) celebration will start on April 13 — with songs, recitation, play and dance performance.

The morning session of the Nobo Borsho celebration will start with a classical rendition in Raag Bhairo, to be presented by Sadarang Uchchango Sangeet Parishad Bangladesh.

Guest artistes from Dhaka and Kolkata are set to perform at the programme, said Ahmed Iqbal Haider, member secretary of SPBUP.

This is the 36th year that SPBUP has been celebrating Nobo Barsho in Chittagong.
