Shab-e-Barat on June 24

Shab-e-Barat, the holy night of fortune and forgiveness, will be observed on June 24 as the new moon for the month of Shaban was not sighted anywhere in the country yesterday.
The decision came at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee held at the Islamic Foundation office in the evening.
The meeting reviewed reports and messages received from across the country about non-appearance of the new moon in the skies of Bangladesh.
“As the moon of Shaban of 1434 Hijri was not sighted, the month of Rajab will end on Monday on completion of 30 days and the Holy Shaban month will begin on Tuesday,” said a release of the foundation.
Secretary to the religious affairs ministry and vice-chairman of the committee Kazi Habibul Awal presided over the meeting.
