Siddikur and Co to start Panasonic Open

Last year’s runners-up Siddikur Rahman will be hoping to go one better this time when he tees off at the Panasonic Open India which begins at the Delhi Golf Club today. The 28-year old golfer has been looking for an elusive second Asian Tour title for the last three years since winning the maiden title in Brunei Open in 2010. He came close a few times but could not finish the job.
Last year Siddikur finished in joint second position, by just two strokes, in this 300,000 dollar event. This time Siddikur will be hoping that his recent form takes him one better, as he has had a very good outing last week at the prestigious Maybank Malaysian Masters where he finished joint fifth with a score of 14-under.
Siddkur will be joined in the event by two other Bangladeshis – Shakhawat Hossain Sohel and Jamal Hossain Mollah – both of whom will be looking to make an impression there. The Indian contingent will include Anirban Lahiri — inaugural year’s winner and Digvijay Singh — last year’s winner along with Jeev Milkha Singh, Gaganjeet Bhullar among the Indians.
