For the first time, The British Council and Daffodil Education Network (DEN) have jointly marked World Book Day with a month long promotion of book reading. On March 9, 2013 the British Council inaugurated the celebration with a rally from the DU Vice Chancellor’s Residence to the British Council, Fuller Road. On the same day, a nationwide book reading competition was launched at the Fuller Road office. Professor Abdullah Abu Sayeed, chief guest, who inaugurated the programme, explained the importance of reading books for the various aspects of human life.
