Professor Dr A M M Safiullah joined as VC at AUST
Professor Dr A M M Safiullah, Former Vice Chancellor of BUET joined as the Vice-Chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) on August 1, 2011. Professor Safiullah took over the charge from Professor Dr Kazi Shariful Alam in a reception meeting which was presided over by Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT). Professor Dr M H Khan, Advisor of the University, the Proctor, Deans and Heads of the departments, Advisor of student welfare and Registrar of the University were present.
Upon obtaining his PhD from University of Strathclyde, Professor Dr A M M Safiullah worked in a local Consulting Engineering firm, joining the Design Directorate of the Water Development Board in 1971. He joined the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) as a lecturer in Civil Engineering in 1973. He ran as the Head of the Department and as Dean of the Faculty, Director, Planning and Development and Directorate of Continuing Education at BUET. In August 2006 he was appointed as the 10th Vice-Chancellor of BUET, a post he continued till August 2010. Professor Safiullah has acted as a consultant to a large number of national and international projects. He is also the President of Bangladesh Society for Geotechnical Engineering.
President Zillur Rahman has appointed him as Vice-Chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology for a four year term.
