Roundtable Discussion by UGC and Canada Bangladesh Institute
A roundtable discussion on “Linking Bangladesh Development Goals to Higher Education Agenda: Opportunities for International Collaboration” was jointly organised by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Canada Bangladesh Institute at UGC auditorium on January 19. Collaborative exchange programme with recognised foreign universities, research organisations, donor agencies, NGOs and concerned institutions could enhance the quality in tertiary level education, observed UGC Chairman (State Minister) Professor Dr A K Azad Chowdhury.

The orientation programme for the newly enrolled undergraduate students for Spring Semester was held on January 21, 2012 at DIU Auditorium. Professor Dr M Lutfar Rahman, Vice Chancellor, DIU was present as chief guest while Aminul Islam, Professor Emeritus was present as special guest.
East Delta University
Orientation Spring'12 Semester was held at EDU on January 14. The programme was presided over by A Qaiyum Chowdhury, Associate Professor and Associate Dean. Professor M Sekandar Khan, Vice Chancellor of EDU was present as the chief guest. He welcomed the guardians and fresh intakes for choosing EDU for their higher studies. He expects the EDU faculties would do their best to equip them to face the future challenges in their professional lives.
North South University
The orientation ceremony of Spring 2012 Semester for the newly enrolled undergraduate students was held on January 21, 2012 at NSU campus.
Mohammed Shajahan, Chairman, BOT, NSU was present as chief guest. Dr Hafiz G A Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor chaired the ceremony, Professor Dr A T M Nurul Amin, Dean of SEAS, Dr A Hannan Chwdhury, Dean of SOB and others were present at the occasion.
UK Chief Executive Visited DIIT
On January 18 Chief Executive of NCC Education, UK, Professor John Fairhurst visited Daffodil Institute of IT (DIIT). Haridas Ramasamy, Regional Director, Nayel Chowdhury, Business Development Manager of NCC education, UK, attended the meeting with the students, management committee and faculty staff members.
Seminar on Structuralism and Post-Structuralism
The Department of English, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT), organised a seminar titled 'Structuralism and Post-Structuralism: An Overview' on December 27, 2011. The seminar was held at the Hall Room of the permanent campus of BUBT.
Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam was the speaker at the seminar. His speech included historical background of structuralism and post-structuralism, their evolution, applications and recent developments.
Students and faculty members of BUBT and other universities attended the seminar. Professor Abu Taher Mojumder, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities and of Social Sciences, was the chair of the seminar.
International Evening at IUBAT
To commemorate the contribution of academic cooperation between the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT) and different academic institutions throughout the globe, an International Evening was organised at the juncture of its month long celebration of 21st Foundation Day on January 18, 2012 at the IUBAT campus. Professor Dr M Alimullah Miyan, Vice-Chancellor and Founder of IUBAT was present at the ceremony as chief guest while Dr Hendrika Maltby, Professor, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, University of Vermont, USA was present there as guest of honour.
Public Lecture on Consumerism
A public lecture on “Consumerism and FMCG Market in Bangladesh” was organised by Presidency University on January 17. The programme was presided over by Professor Dr Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor, Presidency University (PU), while the main speaker was Syed Alamgir, Executive Director, ACI Ltd.
NUB rewards Bangladesh National Women's Cricket Team
Department of 'Marketing Development Promotion and Branding' of Northern University Bangladesh (NUB) rewarded the Bangladesh National Women's Cricket Team for achieving 'One day International Cricket Status' in International Women's Cricket on January 21 at its Banani Campus. Members of National Women's Cricket Team were presented with crest and special offer letter to complete any of courses of NUB for Undergraduate and Post graduate programme with 100% scholarship. Professor Abu Yousuf Md Abdullah, Chairman, NUB Trust was the and Dipu Roy Chowdhury, Manager, National Women's Cricket Team were present as chief guest and special guest with me.
Seminar on Drug Abuse at DIU
Daffodil International University (DIU) arranged a seminar titled “Young Generation and Drug Abuse in Bangladesh” recently at its auditorium. Home Minister Advocate Shahara Khatun addressed the seminar as chief guest. Bangladesh Skill Development Institute (BSDI) and Association for Preventing Drug Abuse (MANAS) jointly organised the Seminar. Professor Arup Ratan Choudhury, Founder President, Association for Prevention of Drug Abuse (MANAS) and member of National Task Force on Tobacco Control presided over the seminar and presented the keynote paper.
