The best Eid gift for the nation

While we've been toiling over gift ideas for Eid, we have as a nation just received the biggest, best gift we could've ever imagined- Dr. Yunus and Grameen Bank's Nobel Peace Prize! Giving hope to the poorest of the poor, especially women through their micro credit program, Dr. Yunus and Grameen Bank have over the years, slowly made big changes in our social scene one dream at a time. And to acknowledge their realized dream, their success is to acknowledge that we are on the way to a better, brighter future as a nation.

Their humble initiative that started off small, now has 6.6 million borrowers, 97 percent of them women, and has stretched their helpful arms through 70, 000 villages across the country, inspiring such efforts to reduce poverty elsewhere in the world. They were chosen winners out of 191 candidates in all and will receive the $1.4 million prize money, which they will no doubt use to do more good in the future. In the words of the 'banker to the poor', Dr. Yunus himself, for all Bangladeshis alike, it truly 'is the sky.'
