Biking comfort

Motorbikes are a symbol of youthfulness and trendy lifestyles. Bata has recently come up with a design of sandal specifically designed and engineered for bikers. The built-in features are engineered for foot protection and comfort while riding the bike.

The salient features of the Motor Sandal are brake pedal rest point, fiberglass reinforced plate in the sole, gear shift protection, thermo-plastic rubber exhaust heat resistance, toe bumper and fluorescent night vision in the back strap. Another interesting feature of this sandal is that it can also be used without the belt as slippers depending on the whims of the rider. Those who do not own a bike need not worry; this sandal can be used comfortably in all day-to-day activities.

At the moment five product lines are available in selected Bata stores with an affordable retail price of Tk 900. - LS Desk

The interview

Throughout the course of our lives, many of us have had to face interviews. In today's modern world, where competition is at its height, we must take special care to prepare ourselves for anything and everything. Whether you're looking for your first job or your fifth; an entry-level sales position or top management spot, there are some universal rules to successful interviews. An interview is not a two way street! It is your job to sell yourself with a positive attitude and enthusiasm. Regardless of your initial impression of the opportunity, your main objective is to obtain the job by outshining competition.

Go to the library, use the Web or read their annual report; do some research on the company. Find things to discuss during the interview. This will have an impression on the interviewer. Know the company's financial position, i.e. net worth, stock price, etc. Know the competitors. Know the product line. You should call on at least three possible customers to get their opinion of the company and the product. Let the interviewer know this. Tell the interviewer with whom and where you investigated their company.

Employers reject improperly dressed candidates. Accept the fact that many employers have an unwritten dress code and like to hire properly dressed candidates. Forget your own personal preferences. You should dress according to the impression you want to create- successful, confident and professional. Wear a blue or grey suit, white starched shirt, with a tie of contrasting colours, shined shoes and dark socks. Ladies can wear sari or shalwar kameez, whichever suits you best. It is best not too wear anything too flashy. Hairstyles for both men and women should be modest. Your attire/appearance WON'T get the job, but it CAN certainly rob you of it.

Get exact directions to the interview site at least one day ahead of schedule. Be 15 minutes early. Be courteous to the staff…especially the secretary. An employer is always influenced by opinions of other employees.

Take a resume with you even if the interviewer has one. Do not fold it! Offer the resume to the person in a new file folder. Take along references; when requested, provide a typed list of names, addresses, phone numbers, and letters of personal and professional references.

Nowadays, many companies ask about the expected salaries. Negotiate remuneration with confidence; your present salary will be on the company application you filled in. Mark the "expected earnings" portion of the application, "Open or Negotiable." But if you are unemployed, seek a salary equivalent to your last earnings.

So the next time you have to face an interview, try out some of these pointers, and blast your way to the top!

Slices of entertainment
With the aura of spring in the air, you can find a perfect excuse to have some entertainment for yourself. The fun can include your family as well, and there are certain happening places in the town. All you need to do is look for them.

What to find
If you want a peaceful environment and want to spend a great amount of time with your loved one, then try to find out restaurants or lounges, which will fulfil your requirements. If the place provides unplugged performances then this will definitely add up to your desires. There's nothing as wonderful as sinking into a world of soothing music. Or, you may like to go watch a cinema. If you are with your family then go to some fast food restaurant where the kids can enjoy the meal and also the games offered. As for the teenagers, there are concerts staged at different places; you may like to check out the absolutely electrifying environment. You'll be thrilled to see your favourite artists performing live and the rest of the time will fly by with the flicker of an eye.

You can arrange some thing at home if you don't want to join crowds. In that case, a nice musical evening or a barbeque arrangement can be a good choice. Try to make the most of your time enjoying with the people around you. Since the weekdays are too hectic for most of us, the best way to plan for any form of recreation is in the weekends. Have fun as much as you can!
