With this sole purpose in mind, principal, Fawzia Z. Chowdhury along with the director, Md. Saiful Islam first launched Sound of Music, and started their very first class on the 7 of March 2008. They firmly believe that music is for everyone. Sound of Music provides a great place for comprehensive music education for people of all ages, as well as a haven for people seeking refuge from their hectic lives, a place where they can drown all their tensions and frustrations in soothing music.
With a dedicated team of highly talented and skilled teachers from all over the world, and an intention to attain global recognition, Sound of Music is 'a path which leads to ultimate destination of music'. Their faculty include among others, Natasha (Russian) who has been teaching the piano and recorder professionally for 5 years and worked as a piano teacher at the Australian and American International Schools; Philippe (French) who has also been teaching the piano for 8 years now and worked as a piano teacher at the International French school in China; Kamal, of Warfaze and Aurthohin fame, who has been teaching the guitar for 15 years; Philip Hazra who has completed his long training as a violinist under the Royal Schools of Music, London and has since then taught at reputable institutions such as the Centre for Asian Arts and Culture, St. Thomas' School (Kolkata) and Alliance Francaise de Dhaka; Ebadul Huq Shaikat who completed his training as sitarist at the Rabindra Bharati University (Kolkata).
Sound of Music offers certificate course on piano, violin, guitar, sitar and recorder, but they also hope to start separate courses on drums and western vocal. They also have a special arrangement with the Royal Music School in London to provide certificate for violin directly from there. Both the principal and director's vision is to provide education in music for O and A level candidates, as well as providing scholarships in music for the hardworking and talented.
With a very reasonable admission fee of Tk 2000, and other monthly fees that range from Tk 1000 to Tk 2000, Sound of Music has already received its fair share of appreciation and enthusiasm. They are open on Fridays and Saturdays, from 9 am to 7 pm at House #42, Rd #7, Block F, Banani; and House #121, Rd #7, Sector #4, Uttara. # 01712209721, 01717233565 E-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
