Fashion to a new height
For the second time, Dhaka Fashion Week has bedazzled audience and enthralled fashionistas. The three day event witnessed the making of fashion statements and breaking of stereotypes as models tread the ramp, bringing life to the collective brilliance of couturiers.
A mixture of colours and textures inspired "Kuhu" to mix Origami and Shibori, (Japanese arts of paper folding) into the beauty of a sari. Her imagination played with the sari as a fluid sculpture wrapped around a woman's body, a free-standing piece of art.
"Emprint" played with seasonal colours that reflected the image of deshi fall. Their collection had a unique flavour as every garment was handmade to an extremely high standard; embellished pieces constructed employing elaborate beading and embroidery techniques.
"Pride" paid homage to 'Rejuvenation' and the sanctity of this land, by dedicating their collection to rich earthy, mossy tones, on textured katans, gorgeous chiffons and silks, all linked by the use of detailed golden embroidery work.
Dhaka Fashion Week 2009 was organised by "Tupa and Associates." "Moon's Boutique" was the title sponsor and "Parachute Advanced" and "Pride", co-sponsors. "Trends" a lifestyle weekly of New Age, "Ice Today" and "Ekushey TV" were the media partners.
