Eggs-traordinary and Egg-ceptional

Relax. Untie your knotty knuckles as we take you through the journey of the incredible egg. I am obliged to refer back to one of our clichés because as of now, “There is more to an egg than meets the eye”, is vital for our documentation. Hollow or concrete, an egg is a symbol of fertility, creation and new life. An egg contains all the ingredients, both literally and metaphorically, to sculpt a new life.

In the days gone by, appeared from amongst the mist, a dimwalla at the very break of day. His husky voice amplified breaking through the serenity of the early mornings screaming, “Aye dim, aye dim”. His bare abdomen gleamed with dewdrops and a red scarf draped his head, the silhouette decipherable from miles away. Along with this man, came a long basket full of fresh and warm eggs. The gooey or the hard-boiled yolks could be gulped away in an instance. Just a pinch of salt or pepper and they were heaven in the mouth.

Boiled eggs or as we like to call them our very own, “shiddho dims” are a classic deshi. From our railway stations to our “ferry ghats”, these hard-boiled eggs never fail to catch our eyes. "Ferry Ghat's Baul tunes" echo to harmonize with the warmth of the shiddho dims to heighten the Bangladeshi feel. They are carried around in little cane baskets, delicately wrapped up in cloths to retain their warmth. Your bird, your call: duck or chicken? The eggs of these two birds are common, however as you transit across state borders, you might encounter a wider range of eggs to satisfy yourself from. Current market prices stand with Tk 28 a hali. A hali comprises of four eggs and we have done the math for you with the price of an egg resulting to Tk 7 and a dozen of eggs to Tk 84.

The benefits associated with this egg-ceptional and eggs-traordinary egg outweighs any of the risks. This is what we have dug out for you from the unfathomable beneficial egg journal, this list has not been concluded however, as we would have run out of space in this newspaper of ours. Absorbable iron comes hand in hand to carry oxygen to your cells and to prevent anemia. An egg is enriched with vitamins A, D, E and B to nourish you with healthy skin, stronger bones, teeth and an enhanced immune system. This nutrient dense body provides choline, a key element in guaranteeing optimal fetal development. A choline gap results in neural tube defects. We strongly urge, pregnant and lactating women, to consume eggs on a regular basis.

You will be surprised at what we have come up with. Eggs help in weight-management. Don't believe us? Thought so, and thus we have loaded our bags beforehand to qualify our statement. An egg fills you up longer, with long-lasting energy to get you going through your crammed schedule. This way you get the energy you need without having to snack on those oil-rich weight-putters. Retain that extra inch within those trousers now.

Do not blame it on the egg! If your cholesterol level is escalating, stop for a minute and think, before you label the egg as your culprit. Are your habits on the right track? Are you a smoker or a regular drinker? Have you been exercising as prescribed for your body? Are your sugar levels in reign? Check your health requirements and work towards achieving them. Remember it is not the egg but the company that you keep.

6 eggs a week for healthy adults is recommended. We often just retreat to the egg white, and restrict ourselves from the yolk. Eat the whole egg or you might just miss out on the many nutritional benefits. Eggs are low in saturated fat, contain only 70 calories and have zero trans making them perfect for a well-balanced diet. Renew and revive your health. An egg followed by your visit to the gym, helps to repair and to grow your worn-out muscles. Hair fall? Worry no more: these super protein hubs are here to revitalize your scalp. An egg a day keeps the dermatologist away! Time and again, eggs have served as ready-to-use home facials. Crack the egg, smother the liquid on the desired areas and gently wash away once dry.

Eggs are everywhere around you. Can't spot them? Look again and your gaze shall come back to you fascinated. From your shampoos and conditioners to your lipsticks, from your jar of mayonnaise to your cake mix, eggs are everywhere. Eggs, as we call them, are tangible: bending their ways to meet your needs.

Starting to tire out of your scrambled, fried, poached and baked eggs? Looking for ways to serve your eggs. Look no farther then. Here are some recipes to heighten your taste buds.
