Knobs and handles

Doors equipped with suitable hardware are used to close off these openings and protect the interior of the building from the environment. Wooden doors were also popular in ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Other materials used for doors include stone, metal, glass and paper. Doors open by swinging, folding, sliding or rolling. Many swinging doors are installed with a lever or doorknob to open them with. Door knobs have been used around the world for centuries and were first manufactured in the United States in the mid-nineteenth century. Ball-shaped doorknobs and egg-shaped doorknobs are the easiest for most people to use. Doorknobs have been made of many materials, including wood, ceramic, glass, plastic and different types of metal. Brass is one of the most popular materials because of its excellent resistance to rust.

There are three main types of interior door handle or interior doorknob, available in an array of styles and finishes. A well-chosen door lever handle or knob can provide the perfect finishing touch for both new and existing doors. The correct style will give your doors a polished finished look that everyone will notice!

This type of door handle is often seen in more traditional settings, although now the more contemporary levers are often seen on back-plates as well. Nowadays, many lever designs are available on back-plate or on rose. If your existing door handles are on a back-plate and you simply want to change the handles and not the doors, then it is easier to stick with the same size back-plate. This means that the screw holes can be matched and possible fading on the door can be covered.

A door handle on rose provides rooms with a more contemporary look and is often seen in modern homes and apartments. Most levers are mounted on a round rose, around 50mm diameter, however new ideas now include square, oval and hexagonal roses. These shapes are attractively different and really make your doors stand out. Designers are coming up with some extremely innovative ideas at the moment, such as acrylic or glass levers with fabric inserted inside. Other fresh new designs include coloured leathers combined with metals, chunky square shaped designs, and coloured stripes combined with acrylic and soft to the touch rubbery materials.

We need more knobs and handles for closet cabinets and kitchen cabinets. A wardrobe should do more than hide your clothes, shoes and necklaces. The things you loved enough to buy. Clever organization frees up space and makes it easy to find what you are looking for. So dressing is a pleasure. When planning for a wardrobe, we have to think of lots of items, such as shelves, drawers, hinges, hooks, hangers, rails, handles and knobs. Sometimes a bad hinge or a broken handle makes an uncomfortably for a huge well organized cabinet. So, all knobs and handles have a functional system but it also creates an artistic view of your home.
