Under A Different Sky

By Iffat Nawaz

Signature by Runa Laila
REMEMBER Runa Laila in her early teens - the bubbly young talent who had enthralled the audience with looks, charm and a mesmerising voice? Decades later she is still a glamour queen and to many, a source of fashion inspiration.
Laila's fashion statement stood out from the crowd. She could slip into a western garb with the same ease she wore her chic, traditional saris. As a matter of fact, her timeless grace still keeps the fashionistas on their toes.
It was her daughter who came up with the idea of coming forth with a Signature Collection. This concept of celebrity clothesline is new in Bangladesh. It is for those who like her style and would want to tread on the same concepts as this diva.
“Etc was the obvious choice as the outlet. I always liked their ambiance and the concept of fashion under one roof,” said Runa Laila.
On Saturday, 6 March 2008 Etc Fashion Exclusive has arranged a fashion show for a selected audience to showcase her new line of eclectic mix of eastern garbs and western influences. Arranged in connection to Women's Day, this show is sure to make a mark on the fashion scene of the city.
