Shoundorjo Utshab

An exotic gala defining all that is elegant was held on 14 March 2010 at Celebrity Hall of the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre on having completed 12 successful years of beautification through the city. Persona has truly personified its name, synonymous with glamour and beauty over the years. Over 2,000 distinguished and star-studded personalities were present to embrace Persona’s first step into its thirteenth year with the theme of “ Shoundorjo Utshab” or “ Celebration of Beauty”. The onset of the of the celebration included an anniversary cake to mark this milestone followed by a welcoming speech; Kaniz Almas Khan, the founder’s greetings and a recap into the memory lanes of Persona. Kaniz Almas Khan briefly narrated her diligent efforts, which have ultimately paved the way of making herself a successful women entrepreneur in the country. She was followed by special guests, Professor Anisuzzaman and Rokeya Afzal Rahman, who addressed the audience with heart-warming speeches that portrayed the distinctive work of Khan’s pioneering achievements. The star-studded event was graced by innumerable other famous personalities of the country that included the likes of Mostofa Monowar, Ayyub Bacchu, Runa Laila, Geetiara Safia Chowdhury, Afzal Hossain, Samina Nabi and many more.

Khan has received her training at a Delhi-based institute and was honoured with Standard-Chartered Women of Economics, a prestigious honour bestowed to four women for their respective outstanding contribution to the society. To her credentials, adds still, World Brand Leadership. She humbly put forth how from its modest start in the form of a miniature parlour Persona has transformed into a beautification industry named, “ Institute of Beauty and Lifestyle”. The audience was treated to a theatrical play and a spectacular musical show. The parlour started its journey in 1998 with only eight employees and it has around 1,200 employees contributing a lot to the country’s economy. Persona’s spotlight will always be the empowerment of womenfolk by involving themselves into mainstream development activities.
