Soaking up in summer

TUCKED away in a tiny corner of Bailey Road, is the Dhaka Fruit Juice Bar, which has been around for almost over a decade. The tiny shop's anything-but-fancy decor and furnishings don't count against it, as the service and quality will keep you going back! On entering the shop, one will find every nook and cranny of the white tiled interior filled with every type of seasonal fruit available. All one has to do is take a look at the menu, which is a board hung over one wall, and simply order, and the friendly man behind the counter prepares the order at lightning speed, in a blur of fingers and fruit. The end result is a huge beer-mug full of fresh fruit juice, simply bursting with health! But the surprise doesn't end there. The other reason why customers keep coming back to this place is the option of customizing your own drinks! Be as creative and adventurous as you want, and you could wind up with your own concoction of delightful flavours, which, who knows, may be so great that it can be added to the menu on the wall! Relax by indulging in the truly simple pleasures of life, with their extraordinary price range of Tk.50 to 160. Just try out their Jaam er shorbot; it's guaranteed satisfaction!

If you're looking for a slightly fancier place to hang out, then The Bench, in Gulshan 1, is where it's at. Their juice bar offers some of the most fabulous drinks at equally great prices. The bar has on offer over twenty-five different types of luscious drinks under different categories such as Summer Coolers, the fresh fruit mocktails, Creamy Delights, which are richer, milk-based shakes that taste simply heavenly, and the Energizers, quick fruit juices that are especially based in saline to give you a sure burst of energy when you need it the most. The Bench also has options for customers with diabetes by using low calorie, artificial sweeteners. And for those who don't have much of a sweet tooth, they can also opt for a salt-based drink, according to choice. With names on the menu such as the Tamarind Twister, Peachy Delight and of course, the all time favourite classic, the Oreo Shake, and prices that range from Tk.30 to 200, The Bench is one place where you can't possibly go wrong!

Finally, if you're in the mood for something fancier and exotic, yet at fantastic prices of only Tk.100 per drink, then you've got to try out Chicken King and Anderson's newest addition, Formosa QQ. The options, although limited, have no doubt some of the fanciest flavours, such as passion fruit, purple plum, strawberry, etc. Just pick out a flavour, and we guarantee you'll take a while to decide, and watch the man behind the counter turn your wish into the most delightfully refreshing fruit slush ever!

So, now that you know where to go to stay cool this season, embrace and enjoy it to the fullest!
