Rebel poet and Rang

Aj Sristi Sukher Ullashe,
Mor much hashey, mor chokh hashey,
Mor togbogiye khun hashey,
Aj Sristi Sukher Ullashe.

The rebel poet spoke of the boundless joy of creation; blood boiling with the ecstasy of novelty, discovery and much more. Blending the spirit of Nazrul and his poems, songs and prose, boutique Rang brings a selection of designs to commemorate the birth anniversary of the national poet.

Rang believes that it is through a heartfelt gratitude towards culture and Kazi Nazrul Islam in particular that they bring forth this assembly. They pay homage to this stalwart of literature through their saris, panjabis, fatuas and t-shirts.
Available at all Rang outlets.

Nasima's Creation

WITH her children about to complete university, Nasima Haque wanted to make best use of the time she now had to spare. As a seasoned private entrepreneur who has tried all sorts of business ventures, she now considered making bed linens for the trendy socialites of Dhaka. "I believe the boutique business is now saturated. Every small enterprise is now focused towards catering to the fashion needs of the city's youth. I preferred to address a different crowd."

Made primarily from local machine-loom cotton, her designs feature elaborate work of appliqué, hand embroidery; sometimes she experiments with beads and stones, which although may not appeal to most people, has already found a few loyal clients for Nasima.

"I produce bed covers in limited quantities only. This makes each of the designs more special. I have four women workers who help produce the merchandise."

Nasima does not have a boutique of her own, however her line of bed covers are available at Tajhushir, Shop #7B, 2nd Floor, Pink City, Gulshan #01711540570; ARA Centre, Shop #5, Ground Floor. Be sure to have a look at Nasima's Creation!
